Food Forest Grown Onion Seed Flower Heads
We started growing green onions because we like them and our turkeys LOVE them. They eat the green onion tops every day and never tire of them 🙂
We started with a few small green onion plants, and watched the plants multiply themselves into more bulbs while flowering profusely. The flowers grow over 100 seeds each! As a result, we have a huge supply of onion seeds. They grow very well year-round in Vista from seed and by division. Sometimes the flowers develop into “walking onions” where the flower head has a little onion bulb-let growing on it.
We recommend these seeds for being easy to establish in our area. Plant these seeds in your garden just before a good rain and let the rain water them thoroughly. They look like little grass blades when they pop up.
Continuously enjoy the green onion tops while the bulbs underground get bigger.
